School Transport Rules

SCHOOL TRANSPORT RULES

  • School bus/van routes are drawn based on convenience and demand while ensuring that no route is overly long. Parents should consult the School Transport In-charge for necessary details. The following rules will be strictly adhered to
  • There shall be no availability of one way transport. A student either avails transport both ways or not at all.
  • Under no circumstances are students allowed to go behind or under the buses/vans parked on the school campus.
  • A student using the school bus/ van is expected to be at the bus stop at least five minutes before the scheduled arrival of the bus. The student has to be on the correct side of the arriving bus/ van. Buses/ van will halt for only two minutes and will not wait for latecomers.
  • Students are allowed to use only their allotted bus/van and the designated pickup point. No change will be allowed without prior permission from the school in writing.
  • If a student misses his/her allotted bus/van, he/she should not try to board any other bus/van. In such a case, it will be the responsibility of the parents to drop their ward to school. Such Students may however, return by their allotted bus/van.
  • Students should stand on the footpath and stay away from main road and avoid going to the traffic area until the bus/van arrives.
  • No student should travel standing on the footboard or come near the door of the bus until it comes to a complete halt.
  • Boarding and alighting from the bus/van should be done in silence and in an orderly manner. Seniors should allow juniors to board and alight from the bus in the first place.
  • All students must occupy the seats allotted immediately after boarding their respective bus/van. The reservation of seats for co-passengers is not allowed.
  • Students must not move around in the bus/van while it is in motion or touch the instrument panel of bus/van.
  • Students must ensure that the aisle of the bus/van is clear and their school bags & other belongings are placed properly.
  • The bus/van windows should not be opened without the driver's permission.
  • Students must not put their body parts (hands, arms, head, hair etc.) outside the bus/van during commutation. They should not put their hands out even for waving.
  • Students are not supposed to eat or drink while in the bus/van.
  • Students are not allowed to throw objects of any kind either inside the bus, out of the bus, or around the bus.
  • They must not damage or abuse bus/van seats or equipment.
  • Students are not to use abusive language or profanities, obscene or rude gestures, or to spit while in the bus/van.
  • Unruly behavior like shrieking and shouting, fighting and horseplay are strictly prohibited.
  • Students must remain out of the driver's seat and refrain from unnecessary conversation with the driver while the bus/van is in motion. Students are to conduct themselves in such a way that will not distract the driver. Distracting the driver puts everyone on the bus/van at a risk.
  • Students are not allowed to leave the bus/van without the driver's permission, except on arrival at their assigned bus stop or at school in an orderly manner.
  • The drivers are authorised to stop the bus/van at designated stops only, unless directed by their superiors.

Following the Bus/Van Safety Rules and Regulations will ensure safety, prompt arrivals and departures of buses/vans and positive attitudes on the part of students. Not following these rules may cause accidents which may also be fatal. Violation of these rules may result in the suspension of bus/van privileges.
